the past few months has been about getting into a better shape and losing some serious poundage and inches. I won't lie and say I've stuck to the regime, but on the whole I've had a gradual decrease in statistics, which is all the better.

At 1st July, I weighed in at 18st 5lbs - not something to be proud of, but hey that's nature's way. It would be fine if I was going for World's Strongest Man and had the strength, but....no

So how did I start off? Well for the first month in particular I stuck with the British Heart Foundation Diet, which is a 3 day plan which they say, with a good workout plan, you should lose 10lbs a week......which you do....in the first week (I lost 9lbs, so close enough!!)

Basically the Diet is...

Day 1 - Breakfast, Beans, Dry Toast, and a Banana and black tea or coffee

Lunch, Tuna, Toast, Black Tea or Coffee

Dinner - 3 slices of cooked meat (roughly around 85g), Green Beans and Beetroot (I cut that out cus I don't like it!) and a small bowl of vanilla ice cream (and yes black tea or coffee!)

Day 2 Toast, Boiled or Poached Egg and Black Tea or Coffee for Breakfast

Lunch - 5 Saltine Crackers and Cottage Cheese, Banana and the usual beverage

Dinner - 3 slices of cooked meat, Broccoli and Carrots, and the Ice Cream for pud and drinks as usual

Day 3 - Breakfast is Small Piece of Cheese, 5 saltine crackers and an Apple (tea and coffee)

Lunch is Egg (boiled or poached) and Toast (T & C)

Dinner Half a Small Honeydew Melon, 3 slices of cooked meat and Cauliflower and Vanilla Ice Cream for Pud (T & C)

now obviously in the 4 days that remain, that doesn't mean you can goo wahey, I've finished for the week!!

So, tying that in with a regular visit to the Gym, roughly 4 days a week for 2 hours concentrating on CV work (Bike, Treadmill, Rowing Machine, Cross Country trainer) I was well underway to slimming down.

But the bottom line now is....2 and half months on....I'm now 16st 8lbs - so that near to 25lbs loss in that time period (why does the word w e i g h t get converted into smiley?!) (I have since added 2 hours Badminton to the exercise routine, which in honesty has slowed down the amount of CV work I do at the gym, what with working full time and not being able to do both in the same day.....well I did once and I burned off 1100 calories and lost 5lbs of liquid by the weigh in the next day)

Recently I've slacked a bit on the Diet thing, not because its monotonous or boring - they're food groups I like, but...well....anyways, I don't do retrospective confessionals....However, on the flip side, my workouts have increased to at least 900 calories per session to compensate (in the first month, the most I could do was about 500-600 kcals).

In two months, I've lost 4 inches round my waistline, lost 3 inches round my stomach and can finally get into parts of my wardrobe that have remained hidden in years - thank god they're still in fashion, lol

Obviously, any dietary changes must be consulted with a GP, and if you do go to the Gym, have an induction or have a 1 to 1 session with a member of staff to go through what you're hoping to achieve and to guide you into the correct ways of exercising

Something a friend of mine said makes sense.....doing Sit Ups is a pointless exercise at first if you have excess body slim around your abs and stomach......all it does is harden the muscles underneath the slim and pushes the stomach out even further - you're much better off wearing it off little by little with the CV work and wearing off the final inch or two with ab crunches etc.

For me a great workout is

30 minutes on the exercise bike - roughly 270 kcals
35 minutes on the Cross Country Trainer - roughly 500 kcals
20 minutes on the Rowing Machine - 230 kcals

so that's a 1000 kcals in 1hr 25mins, I will say though, you do need to be stocked up on your body fluids doing this, because, naturally with sweating your body is gradually drained of water and muscles can start to cramp towards the end. I usually round off the last 30 minutes doing light weights.

Everyone is different, and I'm in no way an expert, I'm just someone who's seeing the results finally kick in. If I get below 16st by the end of this month, I'll be super happy...will keep you posted

ok so the last month or so has been a very bad one, although I didn't gain excess amount of smiley, a few pounds here or there, but I'm not back to what I was at the start of September, around 16st 4lbs. I'm setting myself a goal to get under 15st 10lbs by the end of the month, I know its not a big goal of 8lbs in 17 days, but I think by gradually working it off, it will stay off better.

Yeah the diet plan is a bit of a bore, I do admit, but its got to be done from now on if I'm to get down to where I want to get - ideally I should get down to about 13st 10lbs for my height - so that's another 36lbs to fight off.......see I'd rather work it off in small goals than think of it in big numbers like that - since start of July, I've lost 29lbs so I'm very nearly to the half distance mark

this was me close to my heaviest stage.....

and this is me a few days ago -

people say I've lost a lot of smiley around my face, but I can't see it, probably cus I see myself up close everyday
